The Coleman Foundation Announces Fourth Quarter 2017 Developmental Disability Services Grants
In the fourth quarter of 2017, the Coleman Foundation approved grants totaling $325,000 to non-profit organizations in support of the Developmental Disability Services program. These grants advance strategies articulated in the Foundation’s Developmental Disabilities Impact Plan. Among those receiving grants in this program area are:
Center for Enriched Living, IL
$50,000 – Employment Opportunities Program
This award is to support expansion of the Employment Opportunities Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities, which is designed to assess members’ vocational preferences/work experience; assist members in job search activities; guide them at the employment site; and work with potential employers who might hire the individual.
Shore Community Services, Inc., IL
$75,000 – True North Vocational Program
This award is to support the True North Vocational program, which is designed to maximize vocational exploration by adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program aims to integrate adults into community activities and provide individuals with employment path services for a variety of settings.
St. Coletta’s of Illinois, Inc. IL
$200,000 – CILA Group Homes Renovation
This award is for capital support for renovations, repairs and upgrades to Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA) homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These homes were purchased in the early 1990’s and are located in the communities of Orland Park, Palos Park, Mokena, Lockport, Justice, and Hickory Hills, Illinois.
