The Coleman Foundation Announces Third Quarter 2018 Health and Rehabilitation Grants

In the third quarter of 2018, the Coleman Foundation approved grants totaling $672,000 to nonprofit organizations in support of the health and rehabilitation program. These grants advance strategies articulated in the Foundation’s Cancer Impact Plan.  Receiving grants in this program area are:

Almost Home Kids, IL

$425,000 – Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics for Advance Practice Nurses

Almost Home Kids seeks to create a fellowship tailored to Advance Practice Nurses in response to parents and caregivers concerns as they face six to nine month delays to see a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician. This three-year award is to support development and piloting of a Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics for Advance Practice Registered Nurses who will be training in proper screening, diagnosing and treatment interventions for children with special healthcare needs.

 

Wellness House, IL

$247,000 – Wellness Beyond Walls

Wellness House has developed several medical and community partnerships in the Chicagoland area to increase access to psychosocial care for patients with a cancer diagnosis. This award is to support programming and services at Mercy Hospital, University of Illinois Chicago Cancer Center, and Miles Square Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center of the UI Health System.
