The Coleman Foundation Announces Thomas D. Trinley New CFO/COO

The Coleman Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas D. Trinley as Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer. Tom is responsible for overall financial management, investment oversight, human resources, information technology, and other administrative responsibilities. He is a key strategic partner to the President/ CEO and works with the Board of Directors to support their governance responsibilities.

Tom has over thirty years of experience in the non-profit sector, including the past eighteen years as director of finance and operations at the Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation. He has used his analytical, and interpersonal skills to help organizations run more efficiently, thereby increasing mission outcomes. Tom’s experience, on both the funder and grantee side, has provided insights that have fostered a management style bridging finance to program and vice versa.  Tom is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker and screenplay writer. He lives in Evanston with his wife Lisa and is the proud father of two daughters, Melissa and Grace.

 

The Coleman Foundation is a private grantmaking foundation endowed by entrepreneurs, Dorothy W. Coleman and her husband, J.D. Stetson Coleman, one-time owners of Fannie May Candies Company. The Foundation invests in the efforts of community-based organizations and local institutions to preserve and strengthen the physical health and the economic and emotional well-being of people living in and around Chicago. It invests in increasing personal empowerment, self-determination, and well-being through three programs; advancing entrepreneurship, developmental disability services, and patient-centered cancer care.
