The Coleman Foundation Awards 22 Disabilities Organizations Funds
In order to provide expeditious financial support to a core group of long-time grantees who serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Coleman Foundation announced 22 awards totaling $930,000. The organizations have been impacted by COVID-19, incurring extraordinary costs for personal protective equipment, incremental staff compensation, and supplies for the group homes they maintain.
“Most awardees are provider agencies who have engaged in and have participated in the Foundation’s disabilities funding efforts”, said Michael W. Hennessy, President and CEO of the Foundation. “Several have joined the Intersect for Ability network, becoming part of a trusted, proactive system that provides mutual learning, information sharing, program development and support”, he added.
The awardees include 22 residential services provider organizations comprised of 11 Intersect for Ability network members, 7 additional organizations that participate in Communities of Practice established by Intersect for detailed sharing within programmatic or functional specialties, and 4 other organizations identified by staff as worthy of immediate support.
